Our good fortune when it comes to hotel accommodations struck again! But instead of a room upgrade as was the case during our Cape May getaway, it was an entire hotel upgrade! Let me start by saying that my friend Marie (who did all the research, planned and organized this entire trip) did a fantastic job of picking our accommodations. All the hotels that we stayed at were beautiful, clean, conveniently located and reasonably priced. We weren’t looking for luxury on this trip, but it’s always nice when luxury happens to fall on one’s lap. When we arrived to the Epavlis Hotel (a 4 star hotel) in Santorini, we were informed that a guest had taken a fall and would be bed-ridden for a few weeks and that our room was not available. However, they made a reservation for us at the 5 star hotel down the street and also arranged for a complimentary car rental for the duration of our stay to get us back and forth from both locations (since our friends were still staying at Epavlis). We were bummed that we couldn’t all stay together, but those feelings quickly vanished when we laid eyes on our new hotel – the fabulous La Mer Deluxe Hotel & Spa. As soon as we walked into the hotel, we had a welcome drink waiting for us in the lobby and a complimentary bottle of wine, fruit basket, robes and slippers in our room – everything was perfection! Even though we didn’t get to enjoy most of the amenities due to our short stay in Santorini, we absolutely loved our time at this gorgeous boutique hotel.

It looks so pretty. WOW!
I love that you had this grand adventure.
I love that your friend is a great travel ‘agent’ : )
How lucky are you?! Oh so very! :)
Yay for the hotel upgrade! I know I don’t spend too much of my time in a hotel, but it still doesn’t hurt to have some luxury on the trip. Good on the first hotel for providing that too.
Epavlis did such a great job of making sure we were taken care of at the new place – I was very impressed with their good customer service! Not to mention that our friends very much enjoyed their stay at their hotel. If we go to Santorini again, we will definitely book with Epavlis – La Mer (though gorgeous!) is way out of our price range!
You should so book another trip! Don’t they say luck comes in threes? Who knows this time you might get not just a hotel upgrade, but a free trip?! =)
What lovely, lovely photos, Maddy. :)
Lucky you and slightly jealous.. hahahah..
Well deserved..
