Santorini: How Do I Love Thee?

Let me count the ways! As much as I enjoyed my time in Mykonos, I was eager to explore Santorini – the next destination on our trip.  Afterall, it has the reputation of being the most beautiful and picturesque island in all the Greek Isles and was recently voted the best island in the world according to Travel & Leisure magazine. “Santorini is essentially what remains after an enormous volcanic explosion that destroyed the earliest settlements on what was formerly a single island, and created the current geological caldera” (according to Wikipedia). In other words:  it’s a half-moon shaped island with steep moutains, stunning views and unique colored beaches. I came to Santorini fully aware of its repuation and let’s just say it far exceeded my expectations…it’s that beautiful! In contrast to the fun and young ambiance in Mykonos, Santorini has a much more romantic and peaceful vibe – very much my speed! We were only there for two days and I was sorely disappointed when it was time to go, but when I return someday, I will make sure to allot more of my time on this gorgeous island – two days is simply not enough!
