First Stop…Mykonos!

The first stop on our Grecian vacation is the beautiful island of Mykonos! It’s hard to describe Mykonos….actually, it’s going to be hard to describe all of our destinations, but I’m going to try my best to put it all into words.  I’ll start by saying this: the whole vibe of the island is fun, young and sexy. Even though families do travel here, the place seems to attract the young and single crowd (or the wannabe singles!) the most. Everyone goes to Mykonos to have a good time, so the festive environment lends itself well to meeting new people. The beaches and nightclub are crowded with folks from all parts of the world and walks of life.  I was one of those people, partying with the big kids until the sun came out (shop owners were busy opening up their businesses for the day when we were leaving) and then sleeping in until 4:00pm the next day!  Let’s just say that I wasn’t too thrilled with myself for missing out on half a day of  sightseeing and sunning. But that, my friends, is Mykonos!  You party hard and then sleep all day – preferrably on the beach. Luckily, this was our first and longest stop on our Greece trip, so I had plenty of time to play catch up and see for myself what this beautiful island has to offer!

Dana - Ahhhh, to be so young and carefree! Good for you for taking time to just hang out late in a nightclub. So many people approach travel with a big “must see and do” list, and they end up missing the true vibe of a place. A good friend with a husband hitting a milestone birthday next year has just requested that we all spend time in Greece together next summer, specifically Santorini. “Why, of course, we’d love to join you all!” was my response. I look forward to your posts and pictures of the rest of your trip.
