Portraits

You might remember Joci’s pretty face from a while back! She and her sister (whom I nicknamed the Fierce Sisters)  were one of my first clients and so much fun to photograph. It’s been over a year since I last saw her and I just couldn’t believe the beautiful young lady she has blossomed into! And what’s even more sweet is that of all the things she could have asked for her 13th birthday, she chose to have another Mad Hearts session as her gift. So of course we had to make this the best birthday present EVER! We traded in the open fields for a metropolitan setting in the Lower East Side and SOHO areas of  NYC -   ideal for this budding fashionista. Everywhere we went,  she lit up the streets with her gorgeous smile causing several passerbyers to stop and admire.  She’s definitely a show stopper! Just take a look….

It’s not every day that I do individual portrait sessions, so I was excited when Denise contacted me for some “just because” photos in New York City.  After raising three (now adult) children and working her way up the corporate ranks, she is finally in a place where she can start focusing on herself. So this photo session was a way to document this new and exciting chapter in her life!  Though she resides in Florida, we agreed to meet up while she was in town on business for a session around the areas of downtown NYC where she grew up. If you’re ever wondering why I love capturing people, just one look at these photos explains it all. There’s nothing more gratifying than watching a person come into a session a little nervous and apprehensive and leaving with more confidence and hopefully, having had the time of their lives!

I had a hard time deciding which pictures to post from this Valentine’s Day session because they were all so stinkin’ cute! But after much debate, the baby chubs won - I just couldn’t say no to all that pinchable goodness! These were taken in one of the spare bedroom in our house. The peachy walls (which we haven’t gotten around to repainting just yet) never struck a chord with me, but worked well as a backdrop for my DIY bunting flags. I’ve been toying with the idea of coverting this space into an in-home studio because lots of yummy natural light pours in, but after this adorable session, I may have to reserve it for a nursery someday – emphasis on someday! But enough baby talk …enjoy the rest of your Valentine’s Day! Hope you enjoy it in  the company of the people you love!
