I don’t remember exactly how Sana and I crossed paths in blog world, but I’m so happy we did. Her posts are always a delight to read and her shop “Pip & Estella” - a treasure trove for vintage lovers! I’ve always been a fan of her design finds, travel stories and beautiful photography. So imagine my excitement when Sana approached me to photograph the launch party for the Pip & Estella “Pop-Up” Shop…yes please! Located in Dekalb Market (a community of Brooklyn artist, farmers and chefs residing in salvaged shipping containers), the same collaborative spirit was present during the night’s festivities where attendees celebrated the grand opening of the store with music, cupcakes and champagne. Even though the “Pop-Up” Shop closed its doors on December 31st, you can still find many of the same vintage goodies at www.pipandestella.com.

When I was a little girl, I was a big fan of Disney’s Silly Symphony - a collection of animated shorts set to the tune of a musical score. My favorite was titled “Water Babies” about a Utopian world of little babies. It’s a rather simple story, but I just loved the idea of living in a world where one could have fun all day long and return to a peaceful, watery home at night. It’s been many years since I watched it, but hanging with all the kids at Alizeh’s Birthday Luau brought back fond memories of my childhood and that video in particular. Kids and water are much like peas and carrots – they go perfectly together! It doesn’t matter if they’re floating, jumping, sliding , dunking or spraying, it’s bound to be a whole lot of fun! Even though I didn’t come dressed to join in the action, I was completely soaked after it was all said and done (did I mention that they enjoy splashing too!). But it was completely worth it because I had a blast capturing it all on camera. Just take a look….
