OFFICE SPACE
My Home Office & Studio Makeover

I never knew how much I needed an office until I finally had one. It has changed my life! We finally painted the “pink room” and made it into a office/photography studio. Long gone are the days of working around the clock on my laptop and feeling disorganized. Now I have a designated area where I can focus and channel my energies. I only come into this room for one thing: to create!  I chose to paint the walls white because it’s reflects light so beautifully for studio sessions (I’m hoping to do a lot more glamour photography in the new year).  I just love the light and airy feeling it brings, but I also wanted it to be a space that would inspire me to create: full of fun and color.  It’s still a work in progress, but it’s probably my favorite room in the house right now. Here’s a peek:

Office_0002Parker is pretty much glued to my side at all times – wherever I go, he goes.  So he needed his own special place to hang in the office too. I love to peek over while I’m working to see what he’s up to, usually chewing on his Nylabones or snoozing .

Office_0011These chairs are replicas of the famous Eames molded chairs. I found them on Overstock at half the cost of the original for the pair. The pillows are Cynthia Rowley found at Home Goods – I absolutely love them!

Office_0015 Office_0013I decided on another Expedit bookcase, but I installed caster wheels on this one so I can move it around easily if I need to shift things around the studio for a session. The filing cabinet was a Habitat for Humanity Restore purchase for only $10.  It was sitting in my basement for over a year when my sister decided to paint it for me.  You can see her step by step DIY post here.

Office_0021Office_0030These babies were hanging out in the sun porch for most of the spring/summer. I’m honestly still pinching myself that they’ve survived this long! Now that it’s getting chilly out, I brought them to the office where they will get loads of great light.  They add such a cozy touch to the space, that I may just make this their permanent home.

So there you have it – my little home office.

Tiffany B. - Your office looks great! I love all the pops of color and those chairs! Yogi (my dog) follows me everywhere as well. He has his own space in my home office as well. I work from home so I finally found him a cute little dog couch at home goods last week. He finally warmed up to and is enjoying it now. I have the same money tree from ikea! I only have plants from ikea – I can’t seem to kill them. If they can live in the bottom of ikea I can keep them alive!

Maddy {Mad Hearts Photography} - Yup! All the plants are from Ikea. Perhaps that’s the trick! ;) Don’t you just love Home Goods?! Both of Parker’s beds were purchased there.
