Chavonne + Otilio

Categories Going Pro, Portraits

Chavonne and her lovely family were one of the first people I photographed when I started taking on client work back in 2010.  We have remained great friends since!  I remember her mentioning plans of expanding their family, so it came as no surprise when she announced that they were expecting a new addition. I just love how these two love, how they dream and how they continue to build a bright future for their family. For this maternity session, we decided to leave the kids at home so mom and dad can have some fun, alone time before the little one arrives. I absolutely enjoyed watching these two interact! They have so much fun together and as you can see, they have no trouble bringing out the very best in each other.

Since one of my goals for this year is to start introducing off camera lighting into my photography, I asked Chavonne  and Otilio if they wouldn’t mind my experimenting with some night time photography during their session. We tried to use some off camera lighting, which was much harder than I thought, and also used some of the lights found around town. Definitely not perfect, but I’m pleased with the way these turned out. Despite the chilly weather and the technical difficulties, these two hung in there and allowed me to explore some new areas that I’m really excited to work on in the future! Thanks again guys!

I really love Chavonne’s smile. It is so beautiful. I love the camaraderie between she and her husband. Congratulations to them on the new baby! I wish them all the very best.

Amazing photo spread!!! I loved them all, but especially the one where she’s leaning against the white wall and looking at you while her husband is looking at her belly. LOVE IT!

I love these… especially the nighttime shots! I really feel the crisp winter air in these photos and I like that you captured a little bit of the holiday decorations… it’s like a subtle way of dating the photos. They both look fantastic… and I’ve never seen Chavonne with straight hair!
