My camera – my baby Nikon D700 – has been at the repair shop for the last two weeks. In the meantime, I’ve been using my backup (my starter camera) until I get it back. It’s been almost two years since I picked up the D9o and I admit that I’ve been clumsily getting by. I can’t use my fancy lenses nor can I rely on great low light performance. It has forced me to think carefully about the shots I’m going to take before I take them since there’s less room for error. But at the end of the day, it’s not the camera that makes the photo – it’s the photographer. So when I drove by this field last week and saw the direction of the light in the early evening, I knew I wanted to bring my senior client here for a quick set. Luckily, it also coincided with The Creativity Project’s theme for this month. It’s back to the basics with this shot: lovely light, creative composition and playful posing. Fancy camera completely optional.
