June 2012

We’ve wanted to bring a puppy into our home and lives for as long as we can remember.  We searched high and low and debated between breeds and breeders. But eventually decided to follow our hearts (with the encouragement of a few friends) and go the rescue adoption route. It wasn’t an easy one. We fell in love with many puppies along the way and interviewed with a few rescue groups. It was always heartbreaking when these prospects didn’t pan out.  But in the blink of an eye, our stars aligned and this adorable little guy was hand delivered to our forever home by the Pets in Need Rescue Team. It was love at first sight!  He’s a beagle mix (even though I think he’s pure bred, there’s no telling for sure) rescued from a kill shelter in Georgia.  He’s 14 weeks old and as shy and stubborn as can be! He loves to nap and roll around in the grass. We are still getting to know each other and we have a lot to learn, but we love him so much already and we’re so excited to have him home with us.  And luckily, he has a puppyrazzi for a mom, so you’ll be seeing lots more of our adorable pup (I still can’t believe he’s ours!) Parker around these parts!

Over the weekend I had the pleasure of photographing four gorgeous ladies for a boudoir shoot.  We were 7 girls, lots of clothes and makeup, tons of fun….but very little room.  So we had to make the best of the limited space available in the hotel suite. For this shot, I had Beverly sit on the floor in front of the green sofa that we moved to face the window (only natural light source in the living room). We used a blow dryer to give her hair some fun movement. In Photoshop, I did some light retouching and warmed up her skin a bit for a golden glow. With the clone stamp, lasso tool and mixer brush, I blurred the sofa so that it looked like a green backdrop instead…done!

The news of a pregnancy is always joyous, but especially when such a blessing is bestowed on a loving couple. And judging by the outpouring of love when I posted a sneak peek of their session on my Facebook page, I can tell that I’m not alone in saying that this particular couple couldn’t be more deserving of the wonderful gift of parenthood. Keeley and Imani have been waiting for this little miracle for quite some time and their excitement for the arrival of their baby boy is so endearing. We met up at the Princeton University campus for a super sweet maternity session. Even though the day was overcast and we barely escaped the showers, they just lit up the photos with their gorgeous smiles and happiness. It was a joy photographing this beautiful family (including their pups Milo + Zelda!) and I can’t wait to meet the new addition due to arrive later this summer!
