MHP Session: City Chic in Chelsea

So I’m checking in again: still no house and still haven’t moved. We were originally hoping to close this week, but it was pushed back.  You just never know with these things.  What I do know is that all my energy has been consumed by thoughts of this home purchase and pending move. It’s hard to focus on anything else right now, especially blogging.  The only thing keeping my nervous energy at bay are the photography sessions I’ve had the pleasure of shooting this month! Today, I wanted to share the one I did for Carmen and her handsome boys: Alex and Ben. Our original idea was to photograph this family in a park.  But from the several email exchanges with Carmen, a park didn’t seem like the way to go.  Being true New Yorkers, I couldn’t envision taking their photos anywhere else than in the heart of the city.  So I contacted Carmen with the idea to change the location and luckily, she agreed!

When they arrived, I knew we made the right choice! Downtown New York City was the perfect setting for this young and hip family. I instantly fell in love with 4 year old Ben – who has the personality of someone twice his size. It took some time for him to warm up to me, but his pouty expression made for the funniest photos! However once he did, it was impossible for him to turn off the charm.

The oldest, Alex, has a style all his own and he’s not afraid of taking risks. But more important than his trendy appearance was his heart of gold. The way he laughed and played with his little brother was so endearing! You can tell he adores Ben… and vice versa. Despite the big age difference, these brothers are two peas in a pod and it’s a hoot watching them interact.

What else can I say…

I love this family. I love this session.  I love New York.
