The Summer of Us

Life can get so incredibly hectic and before you know it, days can pass by before you’ve had a chance to sit down and have a talk with your significant other.  For a while there, we were just running from place to place. I was trying to keep up with three jobs and two blogs and Kleber was busy handling his own affairs. In all honesty, there were days when we wouldn’t see or spend time with each other all day. Luckily, those days are behind us (at least for now). I didn’t realize how much time we spending apart until we started spending more time together. We’re having the best time this summer going to the movies, taking walks, eating out and making plans for the future and all the great things that await.  I know the lazy days of summer will soon be a thing of the past, but I’m so thankful for this reprieve and for the chance to spend just a little more time with my best friend.

*This is us from the top of the Acropolis. I wish I had something … umm… a little less sweaty to show you, but this will have to do. Plus, it’s a perfect segue for the final stop on our Greek vacation – Athens. Only a few more posts to go…I promise!

Leia - You two make such a gorgeous couple. And I’m so happy you got to spend some time with him! I hate it when life becomes too busy that it becomes hard to find time to spend with loved ones.

Hannah B - Oh man, I so know what you mean. With Aaron and I it gets so crazy that the only time we see each other is dinner and then at bed time. Especially when he’s in school and I’m balancing several creative projects. It get complicated but we always try to take some time out to just be together and talk…share our hearts, our dreams & visions, and to just remind the other how much they are loved. It’s very important to slow down and do that. Glad you and your hubster have had a chance to do so!

Sabine - I know what you mean, Maddy (though I never kept 2 blogs and 3 jobs going). Working in a different city with a long commute was the most stressful time for us as a family ever. Now we work together again and it is SO much better. I hope you can prolong your summer feelings as long as possible…

Nadette - I honestly don’t know how you do it. 3 jobs. 2 blogs. and a husband? You’re like a real life superhero! What a gorgeous photo, and you Kleber are a beautiful couple, and I’m happy your making the most of your summer with each other. As far as I’m concerned, summer is for lovers :)

Kristin - I can’t wait to have some one on one time with the hubs in Costa Rica in a couple weeks!!

August 20, 2011 - 8:22 pm

Keeley - I know exactly what you mean. Imani and I have had the same kind of summer. It seems people try to cram all of their fun into June, July and August, but we’re trying to make a special date at least once per month. We’ve already made arrangements for September and October. It doesn’t have to be a vacation, just a special dinner or tickets to a great event. We work in two different states and we both have long commutes… we’re definitely trying to invest more time in our marriage these days.
