As I mentioned in this post, I’ve been organizing a “just for fun” photo shoot over the last few weeks. I wanted to do something like it for awhile and since I found myself with some extra time this summer, it was all the more reason to make it happen. The concept was simple: a farewell to summer. […]

Monthly Archives: August 2011So this has been one crazy week! First an earthquake then a hurricane! To be honest, it’s been tough keeping up with all these natural disasters, so I’m afraid I don’t have a new post ready for you guys. But I do have this: a sneak peek of my “just for fun” photo shoot last […]

I’m just so glad you are ok. We had the teeniest tremor her in GA and you would’ve thought it the apocalypse. GA tends to get a lot of tornadoes or effects from hurricanes, so I feel ya. And thanks for your comment today. It made me feel better. :)
August 29, 2011 - 2:09 pm
I’m hoping for the same! It feels positively wintry here in London!
August 29, 2011 - 4:32 pm
August 29, 2011 - 5:02 pm
We are water logged here in Florida too. TOTES ready for some sunshine!
August 29, 2011 - 10:55 pm
Yeah, I’m going to need mother nature to simma down, all this commotion is getting out of hand. In the meantime I’m going to bask in the sunny glory of this photo.
August 30, 2011 - 6:46 am
So glad you got through Irene, Maddy. I’m surprised you manage to post at all with all these upheavals… This is a beautiful photo – full of sun and joy (and a cool bike :).

August 30, 2011 - 8:02 am

The song is Gobbledigook by Sigur Ross.
August 30, 2011 - 1:34 pm
Oh what gorgeous light – it just shouts out that it’s summer! Irene will no doubt make her presence known in Scotland by the weekend. We always get the tail end of the N American hurricanes as low pressure systems.

August 30, 2011 - 3:34 pm
Oh it has indeed been an insane week! Luckily the hurricane ended up being more of a tropical storm!!! This picture looks amazing- ahhh makes me yearn for those summer days (those which we got too few of this summer in London!) PvdH

Love that photo! Looks like your wish for a sunny day came true :) …but I learned that you can put her almost anywhere else! As promised, here are some of the other newborn photos I took of Anandra. Even though I came to realize that props really aren’t my thing, I still had a lot of fun with this session. In fact, I think I might have gone a little […]

These are AWESOME!!!!!!! Some of the best baby pictures I’ve seen Maddy! Great job!
August 26, 2011 - 8:21 am
Oh. My. Gosh. Maddy! These are EXQUISITE. Absolutely unbelievable. The way you captured Anandra in her natural behaviors – sleeping, yawning. I love! The first two and the last are my absolute favorites. These remind me so much of the work of Anne Geddes – you are just incredible! :)
August 26, 2011 - 9:05 am
She’s beautiful! Although you say you don’ t like using props, these photos are great!
August 26, 2011 - 9:17 am
Thanks Mishk…ummm…I mean Anandra :) You were a great little model, just like your mommy! And I can’t wait to watch to watch you grow and take many, many more pictures!
August 26, 2011 - 9:18 am
That’s why I ♥ you, Amy! I’m so glad somebody got my “Dirty Dancing” reference!
August 26, 2011 - 9:45 am
All the photo’s above certainly don’t reflect props not being your thing, The first photo is my favorited so precious, the size and look of chair is perfect, not to mention the sleeping beauty herself Ananda.
August 26, 2011 - 10:20 am
so cute…I’m not a huge prop person, but I think the ones you chose are really tastefully & in no way overdone. I love the one of her wrapped in fabric…beautiful colors & compostion. add these to your portfolio, they are really good.
August 26, 2011 - 10:47 am
Those are so sweet! She’s a very pretty baby, and I really love how you played up her skin tone with all the super pale pinks.
August 26, 2011 - 2:22 pm
*in love with these* My absolutely favorite is the bike– the blue seems to pick up her eyes!!!
August 26, 2011 - 2:34 pm
These pictures are incredible Maddy! I especially love the bike…the contrast of the shiny bike and the greenery and the sweet little baby :-)
August 26, 2011 - 2:35 pm
OMG, she is sooooooo cute! She looks so confortable in the bicycle basket, adorable!
August 26, 2011 - 2:55 pm
These are gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! I have to say that I love that one of her in the bicycle basket. That’s not something you see in most newborn photos. :)
August 26, 2011 - 5:49 pm
Oh my gosh, Maddy, they are GORGEOUS. So so sweet and you have done so well with the props. Now what does it say that my favourite is the ‘pure’ one where she’s only wrapped in the scarf… Less is more?
August 26, 2011 - 11:26 pm
That is one beautiful baby!
August 27, 2011 - 3:59 pm
i like these pictures so much better than new newborns, because..er…let’s face, brand new babies can be a little “funny” looking. Yeah, I just said that, I’m a horrible person, I’ve made peace with it. But little Anandra<—-love the name, btw, looks so cute! I especially love the baby in the bike basket and the the sleeping photo. Oh she's gorgeous. Props may not be your preference, but you did a great job.
August 28, 2011 - 11:27 am
She’s so precious! I love the 3rd & 4th photos – so adorable.

Cafe Fashionista - This is truly one of the most incredible shoots ever, Maddy – the colors are so vibrant…they just leap off the screen. Start submitting your pictures somewhere – anywhere – they need to be swooned over by the world! Seriously. :)
Mindy - how adorable! my phriend, you are really rocking your nikon!
Life with Kaishon - It looks like so much fun! I wasn’t able to leave a comment this morning and I couldn’t wait to get to a computer to tell you how grand it looks!

Pradeepa - Amazing shots. The models are gorgeous and the location is fantastic.
Gloria - This looks like so much fun!! And the styling is so spot on – love their outfits :-)

christina Klas - These are all lovely! You must be so pleased with the way it turn out (as the girls should be too!) Love your blog and your work :)
Kristin - Your models are seriously fabulous! Dying over that tribal top!
The Guilty Hyena - Maddy you set up your very own editorial summer picnic shoot!! :) what a wonderful way to say farewell to the summer. Location is pictorial, as well as the lovely lanterns your sis Charlotte and her friends look like naturals in front of the camera, one of my fave photos is of the floral wayfarers and the colorful reflection captured on the lenses.
Piper - Maddy these are gorgeous!! I so need you to do a photo shoot for me!! I could go for a relaxing picnic right about now – looks like you guys had a blast!
Home Girl - Love, love, LOVE the colors!!! What a great idea and the way it was all staged, you made it look so festive and “unstaged” if that makes sense?? I am always amazed at your talent girlie!! You are seriously awesome.

Pink Ronnie - Maddy, what an awesome concept! I love the setting, the girls and their outfits – all nicely chosen! The lanterns add such a lovely touch and that house in the background looks like it’s out of a fairytale. I almost always fail at shooting at midday so I take my hat off to you! What new technique did you use?
Ronnie xo
Sabine - What a wonderful summer atmosphere! The girls are gorgeous and the styling really works. Seeing good old Holga makes me smile!
dana - So much fun! looks like they could be found in a mag! Love that Holga too :)
Buckeroomama - Maddy, you have outdone yourself! Looking through the photos felt like me flicking through the pages of a lifestyle magazine (wait, have I mentioned this before?)… Seriously. That shot of the bicycle, LOVE to the MAX! I sound like my teenage self (ugh!), but really, these photos are absolutely gush-worthy! =)
Nadette - I LOVE it!! I’m really wishing you had been there for my picnic in July, my pics just don’t hold a candle to these. For my photography homework, I’m supposed to be working on portraits in various types of light, but I blew my weekend and it’s going to rain the rest of the week, I’m so sad. But on the upside, at least I know the concepts for taking great pictures in bright sunlight. I feel so accomplished :)
Tiera - Oh, how fun! I’ve gotta get my girlfriends to do something like this so I can practice my photography skills!
Cathy - Gorgeous! The colors are so vibrant! And I’d love to pluck a strawberry out of the picnic basket.
