Can’t believe Christmas came and went so quickly! It was so fast that I didn’t have time to post some of the Christmas pictures I took of my little niece. She was absolutely adorable in her festive outfit and so in awe of the lights, the ornaments and everything around her. Watching her enjoy her very first Christmas made the holidays so much better! This will be my last post in 2010 and I can’t believe how quickly Mad♥Hearts has taken off since I launched in August! To all the beautiful families and couples I photographed this year, thank you so much for taking a leap of faith with me! I appreciate you more than you know! To my hubby, that has helped me in every session to date, been extremely patient as I spent hours editing and building the website and who is my constant sounding board, I love you! And to all my friends that stop by to check out the latest photos, leave feedback and encouragement, you absolutely ROCK!! I can’t wait to return in the New Year with a new look, exciting products and services and of course, many more pictures!!
I had the pleasure of meeting Mindy from Freckles and Dimples Photographyat a workshop we both attended over the summer. We’ve kept contact via our blogs, as well as email and Facebook, but haven’t seen each other in person since then. When she contacted me to say that she would be in the New York area with her family and if I would be interested in taking their photos, well, I was just thrilled! I waited anxiously for the day to arrive, not only for the opportunity to photograph this beautiful family, but to see my friend Mindy once again! The weather was absolutely magnificient for this time of year! The girls were excellent sports (considering that they had traveled all the way from Pennsylvania that morning) and when spirits were running low, I was equipped with giant lollipops that became quite the hit! At the end of the day, the girls surprised me with a little gift of their own – a gorgeous photography book by Karen Walrond title“The Beauty of Being Different”. It was a thoughtful gesture I’ll never forget! Thank you Mindy and the rest of the W Family for such a beautiful afternoon in NYC.
Well, it’s that time of year again!! You know…when you have to rally the troops for the holiday photos! Being the photographer of the family, I had first dibs on taking the family photos for my brother/sister-in-law and my nephews. We decided on NYC for an urban style family session. I had so many great ideas and I wanted to take full advantage of the awesome warehouses and cobblestone roads in the meatpacking district of the city. But then life happens! Everything was going according to plan until my three year old nephew vomited all over the car and his brand new outfit on the ride there. Needless to say, there was plenty of rushing around trying to find the nearest Gap Kids in the area to buy a last minute outfit. And of course, when you’re looking for something, there’s none to be found! By the time they arrived, everyone looked pretty spent and not in the mood for family pictures, not to mention that time was running out for natural light, my preference for portraits. My goal was to get at least one good family Christmas picture – and we did! Unfortunately, that’s not the one I’ll be posting so it can be a surprise for their holiday cards. But I did manage to take a few others of the family at the gorgeous High Line. In the meantime, I’ll be using those lemons to whip up a margarita and planning for our next urban style family shoot!
